Seniors
Coaches report
Yesterday’s game was our first at home for the year versus the reigning premier Rowville. It was also the senior debut for Noah Brimmer and the first Norwood game for Joe Fisscher.
We started quite well. We were tough and competitive as contested ball but didn’t make the most of our scoring opportunities. But to have a 1 goal to 0 first quarter had us in the game.
Rowville started the second quarter well with several centre clearances and they put 4 goals on in 5 minutes.
We then steadied and went to half time 35 points down.
For a good part of the third we felt we had the better of the play but our skill execution with the last handball in a chain or a kick inside forward 50 is what let us down but the endeavour of the players could not be questioned.
In the end Rowville had a comfortable victory and whilst they missed some gettable chances also I feel it was continued improvement from the previous week. I suspect that the 2 teams we have played will be there at the pointy end of the season.
Our better players were- Jos Landy- was given a run with role on one of the competition’s best midfielders and did an outstanding job. For a 17 year old to maintain concentration and also win some ball himself was awesome to see.
Connor Smith had another good game in the midfield and Bryce Milford also competed well down back and his left foot kicking out of defence was a feature.
Denver Lund, in his second senior game, also put in a very competitive and admirable job in the ruck against close the best competition ruckman.
This week we are at home again versus Doncaster East and we would love for our supporters to get there to watch the effort and development of our young group.
